My car won't pick up speed!!?

It seems to be if i've been driving awhile it becomes slugish when picking up speed. I recently changed the car batterie and break caliper which seems to have made a difference, but it's still slow. I think the tracking must be out aswell because the steering wheel starts to shake when i hit about 50 miles an hour,.. don't know if that would effect the speed :-/.
